"Arty Monsters"
This is another collaboration I did with another Graphic Designer. We designed a colouring book inspired by designers and movements to be sold in a gallery shop. Each movement/designer we researched has been transformed in to an 'arty monster'! Meet the likes of Polter-Rand and Professor Tibor...
"Freelance Case Study"
After writing a short essay discussing Freelance work - including a Case Study on a Scottish Design Agency and the ethics of design - we were asked to present it as a printed publication. I split mine in to 3 sections and created 3 square brochures for easy reading.
"Rethinking Economics"
This is my entry for the YCN Student Awards 2016. The idea was to create something that can relate students and young people to the world of economics. I created an infographic 'pocket guide' to the Supply and Demand of Apple's iPhone. The simple, effective icons were designed to be memorable and allow my target audience to engage with the economic factors that determine our everyday lives.I extracted the 'Demand' icon from my infographic and demonstrated how it can be used to brand relatable products like stationary, mugs and canvas shopping bags. I settled on blue and orange as these are the 'Rethinking Economics' own brand colours.
"Design in Context"
This is a collaboration I did with another Graphic Designer. We designed this book to document short biographies of significant designers, typography and art movements. This was my first time using Adobe inDesign and I'm now really looking forward to using it in other design projects.
As well as the Graphics projects I'm working on just now, I've also completed a BA(Hons) in Textile and Surface Design and a semester studying at Fachhochschule (University of Applied Arts) Düsseldorf. I will continue to add to this page as time allows.
"Sustainable Jewellery"
This is a collaboration I did with a brilliant Product Designer called Nicole. It was part of a jewellery design module at Fochhochschule. To even be considered for a place in the full time Bachelors course the school runs, you must have completed a few years apprentice work as a Goldsmith first - so coming from a Textile background, I wasn't very well equipped for metal-work. We instead chose to work with recycled material we found in the workshop and this is what we came up with.
Each hand-dyed circle is made from scrap paper, plastic, felt - anything we could get out hands on! They are held together with heat-treated plastic rods, metal screws and chains. I loved how we could successfully incorporate craft with industrial materials and produce these lovely costume pieces.
"Degree Show"
These pieces are from my BA(Hons) Textile and Surface Design Degree Show. I tried something new here and tried to steer away from traditional knitwear and digital printing. They were primarily designs for lighting and were a way of introducing modern technology and materials (lazer cutting and plastic) to the Textile industry. The colours were what I loved the most - especially the patterns they created when the light hit them in a certain way. I'd love to come back to this in the future and see what else can come from it.
